Teaching & mentorship
Where curiosity meets rigorous inquiry.
I teach the science of mind, sleep, and development with an emphasis on curiosity, analytical fluency, and real-world relevance. I also mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers on their scientific path.
My favourite lesson plan isn't a lecture. It's a puzzle. I'd rather stand next to my students as a teammate than in front of them as an oracle. So most of my classes are built around figuring something out together. Why does the peripheral nervous system "break" during motion sickness? Let's find out. Because I study learning and memory for a living, I teach the way the brain actually learns. Retrieval practice, spacing, interleaving, rather than the way that merely feels productive.
When students started quietly outsourcing their thinking to AI, I decided to embrace it by putting on the syllabus. We now dissect the psychology baked into AI agents and stress-test their outputs, which turns a shortcut into a critical-thinking workout. And as a first-generation college student myself, I build classrooms where every background is treated as an asset for solving the puzzle, not an obstacle to it.
